Mission Statement
It is the goal of our counseling department at CVM to have a comprehensive approach to help all students succeed in their academic personal and social lives. This assistance may take many forms and offers a confidential environment where students may explore solutions to their problems. We are available to provide personal support, academic guidance and career planning in order for students to achieve success in school and be prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.
We also work with many community programs and services to support our students’ achievement and personal growth. When students have significant needs requiring ongoing or extended support, we may refer them to professionals outside the school. In these instances, we stay involved in our student’s progress.
In order for students to achieve their maximum potential and have a successful educational experience, communication among parents, teachers, and school personnel is essential. This communication of student progress is accomplished in a variety of ways: six-week progress report grades and semester grades; teacher, administrator, and/or counselor meetings or phone calls home; Team Conferences, Student Assistant Team (SAT) meetings, Student Study Teams (SST), and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings; or by requesting weekly progress reports.

WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS!
We are kicking off our first Wellness Wednesday message that will consist of self-care tips and promote health & wellness once a week. In an effort to increase our social/emotional support on campus and because YELLOW stands for happiness, positivity, energy, optimism, and joy, we are asking for our campus community to wear YELLOW on Wednesdays. Please help us promote how important our well-being is and wear your favorite YELLOW clothes.
What are the objectives?
- Encourage staff, students, and parents maintain positive habits for their health and mental wellness
- Motivate staff, students, and parents to be examples of kindness
- To connect families to resources that help sustain a positive state of social, emotional & health
Why are we doing this?
- Self-care is crucial for our physical, emotional and mental well-being
- To be the best we can be for ourselves/students
- Kindness creates a sense of community and belonging. One small act of kindness can release an enormous chain of positive events
How does this serve our district?
