Chula Vista Middle Halloween Costume Guidelines
You must use the school uniform unless you bring as a complete costume and not only part of the costume.
For safety reasons, masks or makeup should not cover the student’s face in a manner that makes the student unrecognizable.
No hard plastic toy or facsimile guns/ weapons (swords, play knives, etc.) are allowed.
Costumes that are overly graphic, promote violence or otherwise might logically be assumed to be offensive to others are not acceptable.
No costumes that are culturally or racially insensitive or would offend anyone regarding ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Costumes that are sexually suggestive and would otherwise violate the school’s dress code are not appropriate (i.e. NO low-cut tops, NO short skirts and/or dresses, NO see-through and/or body hugging costumes, NO bare mid-drifts, no fish-net stockings or pantyhose, etc.). Thick, non-see through leggings can be worn under skirts or dresses.
Costumes should not include items with sound effects, lights or other components which would disrupt the classroom learning environment.
Costumes should not be worn with open-toe shoes, high heels, or sandals.
No political figures.
NO CLOWN COSTUMES OR clown related attire, accessories, etc.
Regarding costumes that may not be clearly addressed by these guidelines, students should be instructed to have the costume pre-approved by an administrator prior to purchasing or wearing to school.
Students who are wearing inappropriate costumes and/or not following these costumes guidelines will change into uniform. Therefore, any student who chooses to wear a costume, MUST bring a school uniform just in case or they will be asked to wear loaner uniforms. In addition, students are still required to participate in PE/Dance classes; therefore, wearing a costume does not excuse him/her from class.
REMEMBER: COSTUMES ARE A PRIVILEGE AND NOT A RIGHT. ADMINISTRATIONS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE AWAYS THIS PRIVLEDGE FROM ANY/ALL STUDENTS AT ANYTIME.
